Tim Tebow Released By New York Jets
Farewell bud.
The New York Jets have officially released Tim Tebow from their roster. Early Monday morning (Apr.29), the Jets announced that Tebow was waived after one season with the team. According to NFL.com’s Albert Breer Tebow had a talk with Jets’ GM John Idzik and coach Rex Ryan after he settled in at phase two of the team’s off season program.
“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” Ryan said in a statement released by the team. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.”
On Friday, after the Jets chose West Virginia QB Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL draft, insiders predicted Tebow was on his way out. During his time with the Jets, Tebow threw only eight passes and rushed the ball 32 times. Despite his abilities, Ryan maintained him as a backup quarterback.
Tebow will be free to sign with any NFL team after he clears his waivers.
