This Is The Final Show William Hurt Worked On Before His Death
Oscar-winning actor William Hurt passed away at 71 On Sunday, March 13. He had been working on AMC's first animated drama, Pantheon.Hurt was cast in the project, by creator and showrunner Craig Silverstein (Bones and Terra Nova producer) a year ago. He had completed all his voice work on the series before his death. There is no premiere date announced for Pantheon; but it is expected to debut later this year.
William Hurt Recorded Dialogue For Show Before Death
The AMC animated drama, Pantheon is based on a collection of short stories by Ken Liu about Uploaded Intelligence, or, human consciousness uploaded to the Cloud.
The TV show will focus on Maddie (The Bling Ring actress Katie Chang), a bullied teenager who receives mysterious help from a stranger online. This new online friend is soon revealed to be her recently deceased father, David (Lost actor Daniel Dae Kim), whose consciousness has been uploaded to the Cloud following an experimental brain scan.
Hurt voices legendary genius billionaire Stephen Holstrom in Pantheon. The voice cast also includes Euphoria actress Maude Apatow, The Batman star Paul Dano, Rosemarie DeWitt, Aaron Eckhart and Taylor Schilling.

This is believed to be the last role he’d completed before his death at 71.
Hurt Passes Away After Long And Illustrious Career
William Hurt, a four-time Oscar nominee, won an Academy Award for his role in Kiss of the Spider Woman. He was recently seen in Black Widow, reprising his role as Secretary Ross, as well as in the Primetime Video drama Goliath. He later earned Emmy nominations for Too Big to Fail in 2011 and Damages in 2009.
Hurt was also a popular stage actor during the 1980s, appearing in Off-Broadway productions and receiving his first Tony Award nomination in 1985 for Hurlyburly.
William Hurt’s son, Will, posted on Sunday night that his father had passed away just a week before his 72nd birthday. It was announced in May 2018 that the legendary actor had terminal prostate cancer that had spread to the bone.
“It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar-winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday,” his son wrote. “He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes. The family requests privacy at this time.”
